Felted Twist Slippers for Kids

Felted Twist slippers are worked both in the round and back and forth in rows. You start at the heel and work your way to the top of the slipper. The top is shaped with decreases on both sides and the remaining stitches are pulled together. The Twist edge is worked by knitting a tube, which is sewn together and then attached to the mitten. Finally, the slippers are felted in the washing machine for the desired result.
 
Yarn: Fritidsgarn from Sandnes Garn.
Amount of yarn: 2 (2-3) 3 (3) 3 (3) 3-4 skeins.
Sizes: 21/22 (23/24) 25/26 (27/28) 29/30 (31/32) 33/34. The slippers are designed to have a tight fit. If you prefer a rather loose fit, go up one size or felt them more cautiously as explained.
Gauge: Before felting: 16 sts in stockinette stitch on needle 6 mm = 10 cm.
Recommended needles: Double pointed needles 6 mm. Remember that the needle size is just a recommendation. Knit a gauge swatch first!
 
WATCH OUT! Felting is not an exact science and the result depends on several factors. Depending on which washing machine and/or which washing program is used or even with which other garments your work is washed, the result can vary.
